Patrick J Conte, MD, PhD is a licensed medical doctor and is board certified in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. He is also the former Chief of Nuclear Medicine at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. He was the Chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at St. Michael Medical Center in Newark, NJ and is the Chief of Nuclear Medicine Section of Radiology at St. Joseph University Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. Dr. Conte has written many medical research papers and made presentations and exhibits at various medical and radiological societies. He has also published many articles and scientific papers in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine journals.
Following graduation from high school, he attended the American Academy of Mortuary Science at the behest of his father who was a licensed mortician and owner of the Patrick J Conte Funeral Home. His father commented that he would always have the business to fall back on as a contingency plan, especially if things went awry in pursuing a medical career. Since his Dad was paying for his education, he reluctantly acquiesced. Dr. Conte was bestowed the Dean’s award upon graduation.
The next school year he entered Seton Hall University pre-medical program. But his fourth year of pre-med was interrupted by military service and he never completed the academic year. Fortunately, following the one year of active military service, he was accepted into medical school without completion of a fourth year of pre-med or obtaining a baccalaureate degree.
He attended Loyola University Cardinal Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Upon graduation, he pursued a straight medical internship, and a three-year residency program in general radiology, including diagnostic radiology and radiation therapy, all at Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse, NY (SUNY). This was followed by a one-year fellowship training program in Nuclear Medicine at the same institution. Following successful completion of training at Upstate Medical Center, He became Board Certified in General Radiology, in Nuclear Medicine, and in Diagnostic Radiology with Special Competence in Nuclear Radiology.
Subsequently, he studied Ayurveda, the medical branch of the Vedas, under the tutelage of Swami Sada Shiva Tirtha, and earned a PhD degree in Ayurvedic Medicine from Westbrook University. He authored and published a text entitled, “Converging Paths of Ancient Ayurveda and Modern Medicine: A Western Physician’s Approach” based upon his PhD dissertation. He also authored “Mysteries of Life, Death and Beyond: Journey of the Soul from Creation to Salvation,” and “Revelations of the Ancient Past: How Extraterrestrial Gods Influenced the Evolution and History of Humankind.” He is also the Radiology author for the medical text, “Effective Medical Imaging: A Signs and Symptoms Approach” by Martin Sturman.
He is a certified hypnotherapist and graduated from the Academy of Professional Hypnosis. He has studied many facets of hypnotherapy, including past life regression, and thought field therapy. He has also lectured on hypnosis, Chakra healing, and the fundamentals of Ayurveda. He was an educator and co-founder of the American School of Ayurveda in East Hanover, NJ.
